On Monday, October 17, 2016, William James Finley, 81, passed away quietly with his family by his side.
He was born on August 26, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After serving in the Army, he married the love of his life, Carolyn Marie Nice, and started his working career in the Insurance industry. Much of his life was spent raising 4 children at the family home in Northeast Philadelphia. He retired in 1998 at the age of 63 and subsequently moved to Melbourne Florida. There he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, neighbors and being involved with his church, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Other activities included volunteering at Holmes Medical Center and playing his favorite pastime, Golf.
A loving and devoted father, he is survived by his children, Charles Finley, Diane Dolack, and Maryann Lingenfelter and sister Elizabeth Collins of Philadelphia. He is also survived by (9) grandchildren, Megan Heathcote, Jennifer Lindenman, Charles Finley Jr, Christopher Finley, Daniel Fricker, Michael Dolack, Shawn Lingenfelter, Jessica Lingenfelter and Matthew Lingenfelter. He also has many amazing nieces and nephews who always adored their "Uncle Bill".
William is also preceded in death by his daughter Rosemarie Fricker on April 12, 2000 and his wife Carolyn Marie Finley on December 23, 2006.
