Jon David Reneau Sr. passed away Wednesday August 16th, 2017 in Rockledge Florida. Jon was born April 21, 1942 in Duluth MN to Calix Elzier Reneau and Rose Blahowski Reneau. Upon finishing high school, he joined the Air Force, while stationed at Patrick Air Force Base he met his wife and soul mate of 52 years Maureen Cassidy Reneau, they had 3 children: Jon Reneau Jr(Jennifer), Sean Reneau(Kristina), and Michele Reneau Lyon and 8 amazing grandchildren: Jacob, Zachary, Matthew, Noah, Ashlyn, Ciara, Riley, and Cassidy. First and foremost, Jon was a family man, there was nothing was wouldn’t do for his kids. When his kids were growing up and starting to participate in baseball, football and soccer, he was the Dad that volunteered to coach first and then figured out the rules second. Amazingly enough every team was semi-successful, we later realized it wasn’t his coaching skills, it was his dedication to every kid on the team that made them winners, or maybe it was because you knew he was
buying pizza after the game win or lose! Jon also loved learning, while working fulltime he went back to school earning his BS in electrical engineering and eventually 2 different Masters Degrees. All the while working in many different capacities at Kennedy Space Center, from the early days on the Apollo Program all the way through to the end of the Shuttle Program. He eventually retired after 49 years and then he went back to work for a couple of years “just for fun”. He was a master tinkerer and a man of many great ideas, there was nothing he couldn’t fix. But more important than anything, his gift was his ability to make everyone feel like they were part of the family. Vacations always included an “extra”, what was one more person in the grand scheme of things. The more the merrier was his motto. He will be missed by many, but more importantly he will be remembered with love and laughter by all who knew him.
