Marvin Jay Chaget - April 02, 1939 - December 05, 2016

Marvin Jay Chaget, 77, of Melbourne, FL, was pronounced deceased on Monday, December 5, 2016. He was born April 2, 1939 in Washington, DC.

Marvin was predeceased by his parents, David and Bessie (Friedman) Chaget, and his sister, Eileen King. He had no children of his own, but is survived by his two nieces, Sherry King and Renee’ King, and nephew, Jeffrey King, and was preceded in death by his nephew, David King. Marvin is also survived by his great nephews, Brian Sutter, Marc Sutter, Neil King & Seth King.

Marvin was raised in the suburbs of Washington, DC and Philadelphia, PA. He joined the US Naval Reserves at the age of 17. Marvin honorably served his country aboard the USS Forrestal. After service, he returned to Philadelphia. His career path was through various service industries, working for the Philadelphia Zoo, as a beautician, as a truck driver, in grounds keeping and maintenance and as a city bus driver.

Marvin moved to Melbourne, Fl in 1998, and Marvin worked for a few years in grounds keeping and maintenance until he retired in 2002. He always enjoyed the outdoors, animals, motorcycles, the Philadelphia Phillies & Eagles sports teams, old movies & television shows. Marvin also lived for 9 years in Palm Bay, Fl, before his final residence in Melbourne. Uncle Marvin (affectionately known as just “Unk”) was a down to earth man, who really just lived life in simple faith in the Creator with no need or want of anything extra or fancy.

Marvin’s remains will be laid to rest in Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
