Dorothy Louise Miller Hansen Stremel, 94, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016.
She was born in Louisville, KY on June 9, 1922, the eldest of nine children.
After graduating from the Girls High School in Louisville. She was married to Arthur Hansen for 37 years after meeting him at a military dance. She and Arthur moved to Florida in 1969. She had worked as a secretary for the department of probation and a stock broker until Arthur passed away.
At the age of 68 she went to college using Arthur's GI Bill. She graduated at the age of 72. She worked briefly for Wuesthoff Hospice and was a volunteer for Hospice of Health First.
Dot sang in church choirs from the time she was a teenager. She met Bill Stremel at church and married him in 1994. She led volunteers from her church to serve at Daily Bread and was a member of the Family Committee of Habitat for Humanity.
Dot and Bill trained as Stephen Minister leaders and started a program at her church. They enjoyed traveling, having taken 8 cruises together.
She was the mother of two boys, Wayne and Craig, a grandmother of eight, great grandmother of five and great great grandmother of one.
