Theodora Estey Chandler of Melbourne Beach, a long- time resident and a walker along the bike path by the golf course for over thirty years, died on, Nov 5, 2016, at the age of 89. Teddy was born in Tavares, Florida, to Theodore Edwin Estey and Billie Truskett. Her grandparents Charlee and Winnie Estey were settlers of Tangerine, Florida. Her Uncle Edward Earl Truskett was owner and President of the bank in Mount Dora, Florida.
Teddy graduated from high school in Crescent City, Florida and attended Brenau College and the University of Florida in Gainesville. She belonged to the Phi Mu sorority. She was a member of the St. Sebastian’s Episcopal Church in Melbourne Beach.
She met her husband at his family’s summer home near Crescent City where they were married. Edward graduated from the University of Florida with a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education and they moved to Pensacola, Florida, where he taught math for a year. Afterwards, they moved to Melbourne where Eddie worked at Cape Canaveral on the missile project as a Test Conductor. She is survived by her three daughters, Maxine, Kelly and Cathy, their adopted son, Clifton, their grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan, Mindy, Ryan and Ashley and three great grandchildren.
Theodora was nicknamed Teddy and it stuck with her throughout her life. She loved her family passionately. She was an amazing cook, a strong personality, and a devoted friend to all her children and grandchildren.
