John R. Cerar, age 75, died peacefully on Apr. 4, 2016. John was born on May 22, 1940 in Warren,Ohio to Anna and Frank Cerar. He joined the Air Force straight out of High School and completed basic training in Lackland AFB. He met the love of his life, Claudia Cerar, in 1959 and they married in 1964.
Together they traveled the world with the Air Force. Their first child, Steven Cerar, was born in Bitburg, Germany in 1965. Their second child, Sherry Cerar was born in Yokota, Japan in 1969.
Throughout his life John proudly served his country with numerous trips to Vietnam, Korea, Guam and Africa. If you knew him I am sure you enjoyed at least one or two of his stories about his travel and the military. He was decorated many times but he was most proud of his 2 Meritorious Service Awards that he received for his excellence in leadership and a loading mechanism he designed and built for B52 bombers. For that time saving design he also received a personal letter from the President.
John, continued to serve his country until 1986 when he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in Palm Bay, FL. Besides his children he is survived by his grandchildren, Michael and Alexander Cerar, and his three sisters, Barbara, Cathy, and Mary.
