Eleanor F. Redding, 93, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 7, 2016. She was born May 6, 1922 in Norfolk, Virginia to James C. Folks and Lillian Folks. She graduated from U.N.C. Womenâs College in 1942 with a B.S. in Accounting.
She was one of the founding members of St. Sebastian Episcopal Church in Melbourne Beach. She was very active in her church for over 50 years. She and her husband enjoyed sailing and traveling.
Eleanor was often referred to as âThe Stocking Lady.â She made homemade Christmas stockings for needy children, averaging 1,000 stockings per year. She would fill them with new and almost new toys and books with the help of her church. They would then be delivered to the Salvation Army and other charitable organizations.
Eleanor was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Howard Redding; her daughter, Vicki Jameson; her grandchildren, Brooke Hoffman, and Alan Hettinger; and her great grandchildren, Lauren Hoffman, Joshua Hoffman, and Katie Hoffman; and step-grandchildren Blake and Gavin Jameson.
