Richard Lee Barner, age 86 of Melbourne, FL passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017.
He was born on January 12, 1931 in Templeton, PA to the late Howard and Dorothy (Fravel) Barner.
Richard was preceded in death by his stepmother Elizabeth Coleman Barner; sister Betty Barner Dummett and brother Claire Barner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Audrey Joy (Wheeling) Barner; brothers Harry (Sally) Barner of Mercer, PA, Thomas (Betsy) Barner of Hermitage, PA and David (Kay) Barner of Arvada, CO; two children Brenda (Alex) Chaika of Zephyrhills, FL and Bryan (Karen) Barner of Cortland, OH.
Beloved grandfather to eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; many loved nieces and nephews.
Richard attended Hermitage High School and was employed by General Electric for 30 years, before retiring to Palm Bay, FL in 1998. He was a 32nd degree mason of Lodge 347 in Girard, PA. He served as Mayor of Fairview, PA from 1993-1997. Richard was a member of Eastminister Presbyterian church in Indialantic, FL.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, church activities and spending time with family and friends.
